Cass County Republican Lincoln Days Essay Contest

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to enter an essay contest as part of the Cass County Republican Lincoln Days event. Students should prepare an essay of 200 to 300 typewritten words on the topic: “Why have a constitutionally limited government?”
Essays must be submitted by midnight, Feb. 6, to jwebb1@outlook.com. The winning student will receive $200, and the student’s school will receive $200. The winning students will read the essay or have it read at the Lincoln Days event on Feb. 11.
The essays will be evaluated on these criteria: understanding the topic, original thinking relative to the topic, effectiveness in presenting a point of view, and literary style, grammar, and spelling.

The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Scholarship winners receive the honor of being named “Carson Scholars” and are awarded an Olympic-sized medal and a trophy for their school to celebrate their accomplishments. Eligibility: 3.75 GPA or higher, Humanitarian qualities, active community service beyond school requirements. If you are eligible, submit the Letter of Recommendation, linked below, to describe your academic achievements, humanitarian qualities, and active community service. This traditional college scholarship awards up to $10,000 per year for up to five years. It is available to 11th graders and will be awarded directly to the college or university of enrollment.
Students are required to maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average (GPA) and complete certain graduation requirements their senior year of high school in order to receive the scholarship the first year of college. Students must enroll in college full-time beginning the fall semester immediately following high school graduation. To remain eligible once enrolled in college, students must meet minimum annual requirements and complete a short renewal application each year. WHERE CAN YOU USE THIS SCHOLARSHIP?
